It is impure.
Washing is not always necessary if the the impurity can be removed only by scratching. Using stones or mudstones for istanja is supposed to be sufficient.
It is the decree of the creator to reproduce the creatures this way. This shows from such a humble origin, how great a status humans are capable to have.
