Legality Of The Job Of An Agent Making People Filer
There’s a job that some people do. that is to make other people ‘filer’. being filer means getting their income tax status as activated by FBR. it is basically a procedure where you fill out the information about your assets and income to FBR and they make you an ‘active filer’. this comes with many benefits by government.
The tax of 0.9% on putting money to or withdrawing money from your bank account, is waivered. other taxes on sales transaction of car and home are reduced by a big margin. But also it reduces the tax on the interest a person gets on his saving present in his saving accounts.
for example if person A was gonna receive 100 rupees (after deduction of all taxes) in interest in his saving account, now after being filer he’ll recieve 120 rupees (because the tax on this interest is reduced). so in a way it also helps the person receive more of a Haram income (additional 20 rupees of Haram income) through interest.
There are some people who do this job of filling out all requirements and procedures to make someone a filer and they receive some money in exchange for their service, as an agent. Is the money earned by this agent halal? because there are many people who have big sums of money in saving account, their main motivation to become a filer is to receive more money on interest by reducing the deduction of taxes on the interest money. Will the earning of agent be halal? or he’ll be categorized as helping someone get more of Haram income, and subsequently his job being Haram?
if it’s not fully Haram, then in case he knows that the main reason a customer coming to him to become a filer is to get more money saved, which is interest. will it be halal in this case?
