  • Does Child (new Born) Brings Fortune Specially Wealth For Their Parents?

Posted by Syed Ahmad on September 15, 2024 at 9:45 am

We generally listen from many people including religious people that “child brings his/ her fate along” ok till here in my understanding but one of the persons said “your financial situation will be better only after you are blessed with a baby girl”. She also said that if there is a miscarriage than it means it was a baby boy because as per her knowledge from Istikhara (which tells the secrets which we normal people don’t have access) if my wife conceived and it was supposed to be a male gender then it will be miscarriage because she will give birth a female gender only.

Please note, this information was uninvited from someone known and this statement of her have directly affected my wife’s mentally that she is incapable or something.

Please put spot light on this subject which I get to hear from many specially in Pakistan.

    Thank you and Jazak Allah

The statements you’ve encountered are rooted in cultural beliefs and interpretations rather than Islamic teachings or scientific evidence. Here’s a breakdown of the issues:
    1. Cultural Beliefs: In many cultures, including in parts of Pakistan, there are traditional beliefs about the gender of a child and its impact on various aspects of life, such as financial prosperity. These beliefs can often create unnecessary stress and confusion, especially if they are not based on sound religious or scientific principles.

    2. Islamic Perspective: Islam teaches that all matters of fate, including the gender of a child, are in the hands of Allah (SWT). The Qur’an and Hadith emphasize that the gender of a child is determined by Allah and that there is no specific connection between the gender of a child and the financial situation of a family. There are no Hadiths or Qur’anic verses that support the notion that a baby’s gender influences the family’s financial well-being.

    3. Istikhara: Istikhara is a prayer for seeking guidance from Allah when making decisions. It is meant to seek Allah’s guidance on the best course of action in uncertain situations. It is not used to predict specific outcomes like the gender of a child or financial situations. Using Istikhara to make such predictions is a misinterpretation of its purpose.

    4. Impact on Mental Health: Statements that suggest specific outcomes based on cultural beliefs can be harmful, especially if they cause unnecessary worry or feelings of inadequacy. It’s important to address such statements calmly and ensure that both you and your wife are aware of the true Islamic teachings, which emphasize patience and trust in Allah’s wisdom.

    5. Scientific Understanding: From a scientific standpoint, the gender of a baby is determined by the chromosomes carried by the sperm that fertilizes the egg. There is no evidence linking the gender of the baby to financial status or the occurrence of miscarriages based on gender.

It might be helpful to gently remind those who make such statements that their beliefs are cultural rather than religious and that they should refrain from making unfounded claims about personal matters. Supporting your wife with reassurance and focusing on practical and emotional support can also help mitigate the impact of such statements.

It is the promise of Allah that if a person marries despite financial difficulty, then Allah will give them financial means as well. The timing of that help is subject to Allah’s wisdom. This could very well be at the time of the birth of a newborn baby, therefore, a Muslim should stay positive and be hopeful of Allah’s help in financial matters. However, we humans cannot pinpoint the exact timing of the divine help but it is a promsie of Allah nevertheless.

And marry those among you who are single, and those who have the capability for marriage among your slaves, male or female. If they are poor, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah is ample-giving, and He knows all things. And let those who find not an opportunity for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace“. (Quran 24:32-33)

Also, If a person values and treasures his innate guidance regarding God, blessings and resources given to him in whatever form, whether less or more, whether financial or non-financial (in the form of kowledge etc.) — and he benefits from it and is grateful to his Lord for it, then it is practice of God that He will give more to the person. This doesn’t mean that one should not pray to God for ease in his hardships, rather it means that one should not have an attitude of complaining towards God. Therefore, every muslim should try to follow this path which invokes Sunnat of Allah in his favour. This is in accordance with Quran 14:7.

Istikhara, the way it is being conducted now a days, is nothing but superstition and a Muslim should try to stay away from such things. For correct understanding of Istikhara, please refer to the video below from 1:46:46 to 1:50:19
