Hajj Delaying For Wordly Reasons
As a 50-year-old salaried individual with routine household expenses, I’ve managed to save enough for one person’s Hajj. Considering my current financial stability and physical health, I believe I meet the conditions of ‘istaat’ to perform Hajj.
Over the past two years, I’ve made significant changes to prioritize my faith, including regular Quran reading and prayer. I feel compelled to undertake Hajj now.
However, my wife insists that I wait until next year so she can join me. Despite my encouragement, she hasn’t adopted a regular prayer routine and lacks financial discipline, being jobless and prone to lavish spending.
My concerns are:
1. Her lack of religious inclination and unreadiness for Hajj.
2. She has already performed Umrah with her parents, while I haven’t due to past financial constraints.
3. My financial situation will change in two years with my job contract ending and children’s education nearing completion, making future savings uncertain.
Given my deteriorating physical health and diabetes, I’ve told my wife she can perform Hajj later with our now 13-year-old son, but I should proceed now while I can and feel ready.
Major reason:
I’m convinced that I shouldn’t postpone this obligation for worldly reasons, specifically my wife’s insistence to accompany…she has a mehram other than me to do hajj later when financially possible
My Question is; Should I wait or proceed with Hajj, considering my circumstances and convictions?”
