Is it better to say “Islam is my religion” or “Islam is a religion I follow”? Should we attach ourselves to an ideology? If we do, it might be harder to change, and we might struggle to separate our ego if we need to change our beliefs. Because saying “I am Indian” is just my geographical identity, and “I am Muslim” is my religious identity—nothing more. They don’t define who I am as a person. So, my question is: as humans, we have many sides to us. Should we make our ideology our main identity?

Faith is a conscious decision. If You believe it in it becomes a part of your conscious self. If you doubt in it later nothing can stop you. So this is ideological identity but not unchangeable identity.

For example married woman changes her identity by adding her husband’s name to her name. But when decides to end her marriage, she stops using his name as her identity.
