Allah's Hatred For The Disbelievers
I have been stuck on a verse for some days:
“It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves – upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss.” [Q 35:39]
How do we conceptualize this hatred of Allah for his own creation? Even if it is for those who are Kuffar, who have been sent a Prophet who recites Allah’s verses for them and out of arrogance and deceit are rejecting his message having nothing to support their claims, that all I understand, but for all this Allah hates them? I know we are not supposed to anthropomorphize such things and we can never understand Allah’s attributes fully, but this sort of stuff just doesn’t sit right in my head. Granted these people reject God’s messenger and signs and will be devoid of his mercy in the hereafter, will be awarded jahannam, perfect justice implied, everything is understandable, but things like Allah’s curse be upon them, Allah’s hatred increases for them, this I do not know how to understand in lieu of all the majestic names and attributes of Allah that highlight his grandeur in addition to him being free of any and all needs. Why is such stuff mentioned about how Allah perceives them if this entire scheme of test and trial, reward and punishment is ultimately based on the supreme mercy and justice of Allah. And is it a sin if such questions arise in your mind?
