Are We Truly Alive?
Could religion itself be a result of cognitive biases that have evolved in the human mind over time? Are we truly alive? Do we genuinely possess a soul, or are we simply complex arrangements of matter, no different from a metal block, except for the electrical signals in our brain that give us the illusion of consciousness? Is it possible that death is the end of everything, that there’s nothing beyond it? This idea is terrifying, perhaps even more so than the thought of eternal punishment. Could religion just be a construct to ease these existential fears? Additionally, why do terrible things happen under the rule of a merciful God, like cancer in children or the suffering of countless human beings?
