As a Pashtun from Pakhtunkhwa, we have suffered greatly from wars and state policies. The PTM seeks peace for our people through non-violent resistance. However, some argue that asking for peace only for Pashtuns could create anarchy, as other nations might also rise up, and instead we should stand together against the entire system since Islam teaches us that peace is universal for all humans not for specific nation. Is it wrong, according to Islam, to prioritize peace for our region first, given our suffering?

It is perfectly natural for a person to seek peace for themselves and their community. Requesting peace for one’s own community doesn’t imply disregarding the need for peace for others. True reform begins at home.
