1. Is sadl permissible since there is no hadith from the prophet to prove it?
2. Is rafa yadain in the first takbeer sunnah? What if one doesn’t do it?

The prophet didn’t make the position of hands compulsory. So sadl is allowed.
One should have a valid reason for not following the way the prophet taught the prayer.

Since there is no established sunnah for placement of hands in the salaah, where does one draw the line?
Can I keep my hands like how Hindu brothers do or place my hands behind my back?

When there is no specification you need not to draw a line. A respectful gesture is required when we stand in the presence of God, worshipping Him.
