Can the Prophet (peace be upon him) appear to people in dreams even in today’s era, and if so, as per Javed Ghamidi’s statement, our subconscious mind also pictures different things in dreams, then how can we determine whether the dream is from Allah or from Satan?

And they also said that the Hadith stating Satan cannot take the form of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was specific to the Companions (Sahabah), not applicable to us. Please explain the logic behind this. How do we understand that this Hadith was for the Companions and not for us? We don’t see the Prophet’s blessed face in dreams, but somehow, we know it’s him.

The hadith is specific because it was the matter of recognising his person in the dream. Only those who recognized him could recognize him in the dream.

Since satan could not take his shape so the companions were told not to believe in someone they see in their dream as prophet Muhammad if he doesn’t resemble him. However if they see him, they way they recognise him, then certainly it would be the prophet and the dream would be from God.

Nowadays no one can be sure if he really see prophet Muhammad in his dream. It can be a subjective reality for the person if his dream comes true that it was from God.
