Do Prayers Work For The Dead?
If one prays for a dead person that may God forgive him on the day of judgement and have mercy on him, can it benefit him? Because once a person dies, the book of his life is closed and no bad deeds can be removed and no good deeds can be added after death, right? Then how prayers could benefit him?

We can ask God to forgive someone. This is our part, and it is allowed. It shows our compassion for others. The Quran tells us that angels pray for our forgiveness. Now, God will decide whether or not to forgive someone.
