At the time when Prophet Muhammad S.A.W was alive, did Muslims go to him and ask for special duas to be made on their behalf by the Prophet?

My family believes having dua made by “pious” people in our community/culture leads to a higher chance of it being accepted. While I am of the belief that there should be no middle man between Allah and myself. Can you clarify this for me? Thank you

Praying for others (Dua) is a humble request for God’s favor, and in itself, it’s not objectionable. However, issues arise when someone relies solely on others’ prayers, assuming their dua is insufficient. This mindset is problematic because it:

    1. Interposes a mediator between the individual and God.

    2. Undermines the direct relationship God desires with His people for worship and prayer.

God encourages a personal connection with Him, making individual prayer and devotion essential.
