  • Question About Repayment Of Halal And Haram Favors

    Assallam u alaikum

I want to ask that suppose I had a friend who has done a lot of favors and kind acts to me. both halal and Haram favors throughout years.

now one day suddenly that friend needed a help in a matter (my vehicle for a few days) and spontaneously a vague feeling in my mind came, a vague realization that this friend had been helpful and kind to me in many ways and a vague feeling of ‘I should also be kind to him”. and with that, I handed over the keys to him.

will my help be considered as a part of repayment of all of acts of kindness he did for me (mixture of halal and Haram, analogous to someone being given a cow for exchange of timely service of both Haram and halal services)? and he would have to figure out that what category of favor are more abundant and this would determine the status of whether this car is permissible for him or not…?

Or such an instance will be considered a general kindness from my side and the car is pure for him to use, even if majorly he did Haram favors for me?

I hope, in the light of our previous discussions, and principles we told you, you can answer it.

@Irfan76 sir I’m very overwhelmingly confused, please help me understand.

either I am mixed up due to some base foundation misunderstanding in me, that grew to become a big twisting turning phenomenon, this has broken my back.

sir is it okay if we discuss step by step from a base discussion so that we can analyze where I’m wrong. please help me sir

I’ll first start with asking a base simple question, what is the concept of something that is categorized as Haram income (not necessarily money but any item or service)? as far as I could grasp, it is when we are given something ‘in reward’ or ‘in repayment’ of our Haram service/action . am I right sir?

@Irfan76 sir actually in other topics, my personal queries and other topics intermingling has created a intermixed conceptual understanding which I’m not easily able to grasp.

Can we please start a simple step by step question and answer thread here? and this thread can be used as a systematic guideline for me, in future applications?

@Irfan76 and sir in the case where for example, my friend Azhar is sitting beside me, I remembered a Haram favor of that he did for me, and it made me feel a burst of warmth and love. and in that emotion of love and warmth towards him, a sense of kindness towards him was felt and I gave him my jacket because I saw that he doesn’t have a nice jacket for winter.

here my intention in giving jacket was not to repay, or reciprocate his favor with a reward or gift. it was a gift given out of kindness and warmth and love felt for him. the only thing is that the trigger for this burst of warmth and love emotion was the remembrance of that favor that he did to me, which triggered a warmth response towards him as I remembered his kindness towards me (that Haram favor).

so such a gift will not be impermissible for him to use and will be totally halal for him, right sir?
