Why Was Eve Not Included In The Act Of Honor (Prostration) Alongside Adam At The
Assalamu alaikum,
One of our Muslim brothers asked this question, and I’m quoting it exactly as it was written. Please provide an answer with references if possible:
“When Allah created Adam (and at that time, Eve had not yet been created), the angels and jinn were commanded to prostrate to Adam. Iblis refused, but the rest obeyed. My question is, at the beginning of creation or the creation of humans, why was the main act of honor (prostration) directed only towards Adam? Why wasn’t Eve included? In my view, women were not given honor from the very beginning, because Allah could have created both Adam and Eve together and commanded everyone to prostrate to this pair of humans. But instead, we see that Eve was created later, seemingly as a companion or source of comfort for Adam—like how we seek comfort or entertainment from pets like cats or dogs. So why wasn’t Eve created first or alongside Adam to receive the same level of honor and respect?”
