Surah 42, Ayat 48
Please could you explain Ayat 48 of Surah 42 where Allah says that whatever hardships occur in your life, they happen because of your own mistakes. My wife is giving me a lot of grief recently for no reason, even threatening me for divorce. I’m currently going through lot of mental stress. Is it because of my wrong decision of marrying my wife or was it predestined?

The verse refers to the rebel of God who were denying the prophet deliberately. They were punished for their grand sins.
In ordinary matters, sometimes God chooses to punish some people, some problems are just to test the people as life is the rest. Some problems are due to misjudgements and wrong decisions.
One should ask for forgiveness from God, have patience and find the practical ways to deal with one’s problems.
