Quran 42:52 – Faith Of Prophet Muhammad (sws) Before Quran
Faith according to the Quran is defined by one’s deeds and not only words. This ayat says that our Prophet (SAW) did not have faith before the Quran was revealed, although according to the narrations he was practicing Salah, observing Fasting, Haj etc.
Which part of the faith was he not adhering to/following/practicing before the Quran was revealed?

Ghamidi Sahab writes in his commentary under Quran 42:52:
137. The actual word is: الْكِتٰب. In the language of the Qur’ān, it also refers to law and sharī‘ah. Here it is used precisely in this meaning.
138. At other instances, the word الْحِكْمَة occurs with الْكِتٰبُ. We have clarified there that in the terminology of the Qur’ān الْحِكْمَة refers to the teachings of faith and morality brought by prophets of God. Here by using الۡاِيۡمَان with الْكِتٰب and by using the words ذَلِكَ مِمَّا اَوْحَى إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ الْحِكْمَةِ in verse 39 of Sūrah Banī Isrā’īl after mentioning moral directives, the Qur’ān itself has clarified what it means by the word الْحِكْمَة. The negation of the Prophet’s knowledge regarding both these found in this verse is with regard to their details and consequences and this style of negation is found in other languages as well. This certainly does not mean that before prophethood, he did not have faith or was not broadly aware of the directives of Abraham’s religion.

Regarding Faith, in one of your posts dated December 7, 2020, you mention that in the Quran, Iman has been used in the meaning “when something is accepted with the certitude of the heart”. The post further says “It is this very essence of faith on account of which the Quran demands from a person that besides substantiation from the heart, his words and deeds should also testify to it”.
Here you have mentioned negation of faith means negation of الْحِكْمَة (moral directives) as explained from Verse Bani Israel. We all know that our Prophet (SAW) was of the highest moral character. Hence, how does your explanation fit in?Please clarify to make it crystal clear.
