  • Making Religion Hard For Giving Training About Steadfastness On Deen

    As salamualaikum,

Can someone make religion hard or torture people with loud/shrilling noise of loudspeaker or give sermon using harsh and degrading words.

When the person was asked about the harshness of the tone or loud voice or degrading words, then the reply is given that – “religion should be followed even if it is difficult on your emotions. It should not be followed based on whims and desires. This is training and tarbiyat that I am giving for being steadfast on deen”

Is this justification and intention correct? What would be said for this person who has made his intentions clear and he is deliberately using harsh words, degrading abuses and loud voice for creating discomfort and psychological torture to the listener.

    Jazakallahu Khaira

Religion is a personal choice. It is not imposed. God has made religion easy. Allah says in the Qurn:

    وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ

He did not place any constraint on you in [the] sharī‘ah [He has given you].

God does not wish to burden you.

and when there comes a hardship it suggests the easy ways to perform a religious duty.

The prophet used to ensure the people’s comfort; therefore, it is forbidden to recite the Quran loudly, as this may disturb others.

Now the law does not allow the use of loudspeakers except for Azaan. If the Molvi saheb violates the law, you may file a complaint against him.

I would like to continue adding more on this question.

I understand that god has made religion easy but when such dynamics happen like people using force via psychological torture or manipulation and if the person who is the victim resists from performing prayer with the intention that prayer is a personal matter and it should not be done using force. Then, would that person be held accountable for missing his prayers ?

In such circumstances, the kind of reactionary behavior you described often occurs. Unfortunately, individuals who behave this way drive people away from Deen rather than drawing them closer to it.

Nevertheless, every Muslim must strive to understand the true importance of Deen and the responsibilities that God has placed upon us. One should adhere to the teachings of Deen regardless of how others behave.

If someone, in a moment of emotional reaction, has acted inappropriately or committed a wrong, they should sincerely seek forgiveness from Allah. Indeed, Allah is just and most merciful.
