  • Is It Permissible To Pray For Non Muslims After They Die?

According to Ghamidi Sir, if a non-Muslim dies, we can pray for them using the words of Prophet Esa a.s , which roughly translate to: “O Lord, they are Your servants, You know their nature. If You forgive them, You are the Mighty, the Wise.”
My question is that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not pray for his father because he was a polytheist. If we know someone committed polytheism and died as a non-Muslim, or we know that someone was Hindu ,Christian and worshipped idols or believed Jesus was god or something of god ,,,at that time should we not pray for them or can we still use the words of Prophet Esa (peace be upon him)?

To be a non Muslims and a kafir ( deliberate denier of truth ) are two different people. The prophet Ibrahim was told by God that his father was a kafir and did not accept the truth for no reasons. While the project Jesus requested God to consider the case of the those who were mistakenly adopted a wrong faith. Thus we can pray for non Muslims as we do not know whether they died as kafir or not.
