    Recently Hassan Ilyas said that Hazrat Ali was a De-Facto ruler because not all the Companions of Prophet Muhammad Pledged allegiance to him. However, my question is: The Quran does not mandate CONSENSUS as a requirement for appointing a Ruler; rather, a ruler can be appointed based on the MAJORITY’S Support! In the case of Hazrat Ali, the majority of companions and people had pledged allegiance to him except Muawiyah and his allies. So How can he still be considered a De-Facto ruler ?

    @Irfan76 Answer it Pleeeeeease !

    Hazrat Ali was not accepted by the majority as their rulers. All the elders stay aloof from giving their pledge to Ali accept for a few companions, like Abu Musa Iashari, Jariir bin Abdullah, Abdullah bin Abaas, Amamr bin Yasir, Abu ayuab Ansari. Also, none of them ever participated with him in the battles except for Ammar.
