    Salam

I have a historical question actually I was just watching “the reality of cave hira” video and as an explanation is given about the prophecy and how it is from the Almighty Allah and sudden in its nature and The Prophet (PBUH) didn’t had any clue or did not do any preparations for the prophecy .

In that video it is mentioned that the people who were not worshipping idols and following the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) were known by “hanfi” if i understood it right.

My question is in this context is as those people who were following those teachings actually had them in some kind of written form or just a generational spread of knowledge and also about their behaviour about Torah and Bible including the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?

    Thanks

Ishamaelits, the people of the prophet, did not have any books. They followed the oral tradition of their forefathers, the prophet Ibrahim. They had distorted many things, but still, some people did not like the idea of idolatry. They were called Hanifi.

Ishmaelits were well aware of the prophetic tradition in Israelites. They knew of the Torah, Injeel, and Bible, the collection of the books revealed to their prophets, and the history of the Jews.
