میرا سوال یہ ہے کہ دم کی حقیقت کیا ہے یہ کن مسائل کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ کیا ہم اس حدیث سے یہ سمجھ سکتے ہیں کہ سورۃ الفاتحہ پڑھ کے دم کرنا کسی بھی بیماری کا علاج ہے اور اگر ایسا ہے تو اس چیز کو ہم اپنی روز مرہ کی زندگی میں کیوں نہیں پاتے۔ کیا سورۃ الفاتحہ روحانی اور جسمانی دونوں امراض پر دم کرنے پر اثر رکھتا ہے

Using Quranic verses for Dumm (Ruqya for medicinal healing) is neither recommended nor encouraged in the light of Quran, but if someone does that for psychological reasons or for medicinal reasons based on their experience, then they can do so. The narration quoted above in the question also point to this fact i.e. Prophet (SWS) never gave any such prescription to his companions, instead when such an incident came into the knowledge of the Prophet (SWS) based on the experience of Sahaba, He (SWS) did not condemn it and allowed them to benefit from this experience. It is not appropriate to extract absolute principle of Healing by Surah Fatiha from this narration. The practice of Dumm is based on Nafsi Uloom and people from different religions use their religious texts, among other things, for medicinal healing based on their experiences. It is not an established science and thus requires further investigation.
