  • Fidya Or Expiation For Missed Ramadan Fasts Due To Menstruation?

    Assalam o Alaikum,

During my teenage years, I used to miss fasts in Ramadan that I didn’t make up for before the next Ramadan. I have began rectifying this for some years now but still have roughly 60 fasts left from my teenage decade.

My question is that, apart from making up these fasts ( along with the new fasts missed due to menses) , should I be paying some kind of expiation or fidya considering I have delayed the fasts for so many years ?

Also should I haste to complete them or am I allowed to slowly makeup up for them at my convenience?

I would like to clarify that the fasts I missed that have accumulated over the years, were purely due to menses.

Some clarification in the matter with regard to specific sunnah/ Hadith or Quranic injunctions would be highly appreciated!

There is no extra expiation for delay. One should make it up and ask for forgiveness for the delay. One should not delay unnecessarily as one never knows whether one would have time to make them up in the future or not.
