Zakat Due On Home Construction
السلام علیکم ورحمۃ اللہ وبرکاتہ
I purchased a plot of land to build a home for my family. I have signed an agreement with a construction firm to build the home. I have paid 1% of the total project cost as a prerequisite for the agreement. Currently they are in the process of drafting a floor plan after which we will apply for building permits etc. In this circumstance, is zakat due on the money I have set aside for constructing my home?
