    Assalamu Alaikum

Does Quran entertain this idea of Jews that the Messiah which was gonna come would become a king. If not, is this idea still in accordance with the teachings of Quran? (As Bart Erhman interprets the Bible and tells about this notion of the King in “The Bible. A historical and literary introduction” pp. 151.

If this notion is in accordance with the teachings – or written explicitly in the Quran- then why didn’t Messiah SAW become the King as notioned?

Jesus clarified that He came to announce the kingdom of God, which is Paradise. The prophecy for the kIng was for the Holy prophet, which they seem to confuse with Jesus. However, if they had obeyed him, the Jews would have gained the superiority over the nations as they had been promised before.

So if Jews had accepted Jesus SAW then as a worldly reward they would have succeeded in establishing a kingdom with Jesus SAW as their king?

And reading NT in the light, does it seem to be in accordance with Quran that Jesus SAW said to be the king of the Jews?

It was not necessary that Jesus would have become their king. Jews had both traditions, they had prophet kings or nonprophet kings under the supervision of prophets.
