Such malicious reporting has been done by the Kufians, who were against Umar and they could not accept that Ali allowed his Umar to marry his daughter. Reports against political personalities are always suspicious.

She was not unhappy. It was just a malicious fabrication by a narrator who wanted to defame Umar anyways.
Arab women were very empowered in the matters of their marriages. They picked their spouses and took khula when they decided to end their marriages because their second marriages were not a problem then.
