Distinguishing Halal And Haram Seafood
Ustaaz Ghamidi’s narrative is regard to Seafood is that the Sea predators are also considered Haram thinking them as similar to land predators, Land predators are well defined in Hadith but I wanted to know how can we define a predator in Sea, because approximately all fish eat fish, and In earlier days how people could know if a fish is a predator or not, because they didn’t have any waterproof cameras to analyze traits of a fish. Also please shed light on what are the arguments of Hanfi Fiqh to declare only fish as halal from seafood. And why do Jews consider fish with fins and scales as permissible. Please also explain why we should not apply the hadith about land insects on sea insects?

Beast are haram. Beaslike qualities makes an animal beast otherwisw even a chicken eats worms. Not every predator is beast. Beasts chomp and maul, tear apart the flesh of their preys.
One can determine an animal as a beat only when one comes to know about it.
Ahnaf follows the word Fish, as mentioned in a hadith and applied it to all the fishes regardless they are beast or not.
I have no idea about the jews’ stance on fish. Their jurists must have done the same as our jurists do. A mistake in determining an illat of a directive can lead to different results.

Jazakallah Irfan Sahab, My question about crustacean such as crabs lobsters and shrimp remains unanswered. Because these also rip open their prey to eat? Terrestrial crustacean such as isopod and worms and insects are generally considered forbidden except grasshopper. What should be the rule about sea crustacean?

The problems of insects ana also of replies, it is left to human nature to decide what to eat or not to eat.
If an insect qualifies to be beastlike, we would extend the ruling of prohibiting to it.
