    Assalamu Alaikum,

I started a MOD APK website that shares information and provides access to modified version of paid app. After starting it, I began hearing that this type of work may not be permissible from an Islamic perspective.

Now I want to leave this kind of work completely and start something new and halal, like a different website or freelancing. But I don’t have any other source of income or investment — so my question is:

    1. Can I sell this MOD APK website and use that money to begin a new halal project or career? Will it be halal to use that money?

    2. What is the ruling on providing services like web design or development for MOD APK websites?

    3. What about those who offer website design or development services for these types of websites — is that allowed in Islam?

I sincerely want to make a clean and halal start, but I’m confused about what is allowed and what is not in this situation.

    Thank you for your help,

I don’t know the nature of this job. If it is a kind of forgery, it is imperssible, because it is unethical.

If you find it impermissible it can’t be allowed to make money. You should earn money from an ethically and morally lawful work.

Thank you for your reply and guidance.

I’d like to clarify my situation a little more, so I can make the right decision, insha’Allah.

This is not a job I’m doing for someone — I personally built the website myself. It’s similar to these sites: https://capmodapk.co/ https://capckutapk.com/ https://capzcut.com/— it shares modded versions of apps and information related to them.

After learning that this type of work may not be permissible, I stopped working on it and decided to leave this completely.

Right now, I don’t have any money to start something new. That’s why I’m asking: Can I sell this website and use the money to start something that is halal and ethical? This would help me move away from the wrong path and begin a clean, honest journey, insha’Allah.

Also, I have another confusion: We personally build such websites ourselves — not just me, but thousands of people do the same.

What about those who build these kinds of websites themselves — can they sell them to someone else and move on to something better?

May Allah reward you for your time and help.

What made you thing that it is unethical?

If it is unethical it will stay unethical. Earning from it or buying or selling them is unethical therefore imperssible.

Since I don’t know the nature of this thing, You are your judge. Unethical stays unethical.

JazakAllah Khair for your reply. I understand what you’re saying.

The reason I thought it might be unethical is because these sites share modified versions of paid or locked features of games and apps, without the permission of the original developers. This means:

    • It allows users to get premium content without paying.

    • It affects the income of the app developers.

    • It may be considered a type of digital piracy or taking someone else’s intellectual property.

    • That’s why I thought this might be unethical and not halal to earn from.

Since I have already built this kind of site myself — but stopped working on it after realizing this — I just want to know:

Can I sell the website now to someone else and use the money to start something new that is halal, like a different type of website or online work?

I don’t plan to continue in this niche — I only need funds to move forward.

Also, many freelancers design such sites for clients. Is offering that type of website design service also considered wrong?

Please guide me based on this clear explanation.

I am also working on the MOD Apk sites I also made a huge investment in them, so should I continue or I should leave them as they are? As I have made a huge investment in them, so what if I rank them and then sell them at the price equal to the investment, so is the money halal for me? guide me please

I am not an expert in IT. It is you who would tell me if it is ethical or unethical according to the standards.

It has already been made clear that if it is unethical the income is not halal. If feature of it is not unethical, only that portion is halal to invest and make money.

Selling an unethical thing is not halal as well. Now you can make your decision.
