  • If Tax Can Be Included In Zakat Then Why?

I’m not a very financially literate person and having trouble understanding why tax collected by state is considered part of zakat when the categories designated for zakat have been specified in the Quran rather specifically and I’m not sure if the state of Pakistan reliably invests in them. I would love for all the resources available relating to Ghamidi Sahab’s understanding of zakat to be linked. If there is a longer style video or article in detail version like in style of 23 objections playlist… I would absolutely love that so that my concepts are clear. If nothing like that exists, may I request for a detailed written or video piece to be produced if possible (I would be very grateful and I’m sure a lot of people will be ). Jazak Allah in advance

The heads of zakat mentioned in the Qur’an are for the state to spend the money in them. Therefore it has always been the prerogative of the state to collect zakat to spend it on the welfare of the people. One of the head is to pay the salary of collector of zakat from zakat fund and it is spent for the good of travellers. It clearly confirms that zakat has to be paid to the state which is supposed to manage it.

Tax serves the same purpose which zakat does. Thefore in essence they are same. Zakat limits the right of the guvernmet to take money frorm people while with regard to taxes, the upper limit of threshold is not defined.

The impression is not very true that the guvernmets do not spend the tax money rightfully. Most of the funds are spent in the right places. And you are not responsible for the wrong of others.
