تم پر تمھاری مائیں، تمھاری بیٹیاں، تمھاری بہنیں، تمھاری پھوپھیاں، تمھاری خالائیں، تمھاری بھتیجیاں اور تمھاری بھانجیاں حرام کی گئی ہیں [52] اور تمھاری وہ مائیں بھی جنھوں نے تمھیں دودھ پلایا اور رضاعت کے اِس تعلق سے تمھاری بہنیں [53] بھی۔اِسی طرح تمھاری بیویوں کی مائیں حرام کی گئی ہیں [54] اور تمھاری بیویوں کی لڑکیاں حرام کی گئی ہیں جو تمھاری گودوں میں پلی ہیں [55] ــــ اُن بیویوں کی لڑکیاں جن سے تم نے خلوت کی ہو، لیکن اگر خلوت نہ کی ہو توتم پرکچھ گناہ نہیں ــ اور تمھارے صلبی بیٹوں کی بیویاں [56] بھی ۔ اور یہ بھی حرام ہے کہ تم دو بہنوں کو ایک ہی نکاح میں جمع کرو، [57] مگر جو ہو چکا سو ہو چکا۔ اللہ یقینا بخشنے والا ہے، اُس کی شفقت ابدی ہے۔
This is Surat Nisa Ayat 4 and the translation is of Javaid Ahmad Ghamidi sahib. This ayat say don’t marry your step daughters if you consummated marriage with their mothers. I can’t understand that even if someone hasn’t consummated marriage how is it allowed to marry your step daughters. I mean they are still your daughters by relation once you married their mothers.
Please help me in this regard.

Consummation is the reality of marriage. If it does not take place, the man and woman do not become husband and wife.

Consummating the marriage is a private matter and if one has consummated already and doesn’t accept that he has can he marry step daughter. This law seems absurd.
