    Asalamualaikum,

Why did Prophet Muhammad PBUH seek refuge against the deceitful person who will pretend to be a Messiah? According to Javed Ghamidi Sb, since the return of Jesus is anticipated in Judaism, Christianity and also in Islam, there is an ample chance that someone will use this anticipation to falsely declare himself the Messiah, to which prophet Muhammad sought refuge with God.

My question is why didn’t prophet Muhammad PBUH outrightly deny any possibility of the return of Jesus in the same way that he did to confirm the finality of prophethood, which saved the Ummah from falling in a trial?

Ghamidi Sb has debunked the narrations and while i agree with his view on Jesus return, i find it perplexing that Muhammad Pbuh sought refuge for a person who will *falsely* claim to be Jesus, doesnt this show that the true Jesus will return? If that wasn’t the case, the prophet could’ve just confirmed that Jesus isnt returning, thus saving the Ummah from the trial that we are in today.

When Quran 3:55 clearly mentions about the Death of Prophet Jesus (sws), then no other explanation would make it more clear. Finality of Prophethood has also been clearly mentioned in Quran and in Ahadith as well, and yet there are people who would interpret it in ways which portray a completely opposite meaning. Therefore, there is no end to biased interpretations, despite clear words, whether in Quran or Hadith. Please also keep in mind that just because something in not found in Hadith Corpus, we cannot conclusively say that Prophet (sws) never said it. Despite having so many Ahadith in written form today, Hadith Corpus is not an exhaustive resource. This means that we cannot say with certainty that current Hadith Literature is a complete book on all sayings of the Prophet (sws), from start till the end. Narrators reported Ahadith as per their own preference, occasion and memory. Unlike Quran, which is a complete book in every sense, the same cannot be said about Hadith Corpus.

Umer bhai what you said makes sense, but still the question remains. Prophet’s supplication which he offered and exhorted the ummah to offer includes seeking refuge against a fraud who will pretend to be Jesus AS, the hadith is also found in Meezan, it is veracious. My question is if there was no anticipation or fear whatsover about such an occurrence why did prophet even supplicate it? We dont see him seeking refuge against lets say, returning Noah, returning Yahya or returning Mary, we see him supplicate about a person who will lure the masses into believing he was the Messiah they were waiting for. It shows that, the anticipation was pretty much present in the people of Arabia and the chances of someone using this longing for a returning Messiah was ample as well, rightly so, Prophet Muhammad PBUH sought refuge against such a person.

Again, acc to Ghamidi Sb, the concept of return or Jesus, although i am also of the opinion that it will not happen, was and is still found in Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well. Our last prophet making dua in this regard also strengthen. If this was such a big issue that prophet would daily sought refuge against from it, isnt it plausible that he could’ve outrightly rejected the idea all together?

The idea of the second coming of Jesus was found only in Christians, not in Muslims, in the time of the prophet, while the Jews were waiting for his first coming. On the other hand, the Quran had mentioned the death of Jesus in 3:55. Therefore, the prophet felt no need to reject the idea of the second coming of Jesus.

I am sorry but i feel like you guys are not understanding the question. I will streamline it.

Fact: Quran has confirmed Jesus death

Fact: There is no concept of Jesus Second Coming in the Quran.

Fact: Jews and Christians were already waiting for the return or birth of Messiah.

Fact: Prophet Muhammad sought refuge from a person who will falsely pretend to be Messiah, owing to the already present anticipation in the masses of Arabia.

There can only be one of the two answer, either that he didnt make the supplication of refuge, (highly doubtful since that authentic hadith is also mentioned in Meezan). If he did make it, it would make no sense to ask for refuge from someone who as per him will never return. Again, him particularly saying this about Jesus (Messiah) and not the other prophets tells something is peculiar.

    Or

Mohammad PBUH did reject the idea of returning Messiah in confirmation with the Quran, but it was not reported. (Again doubtful because this is a big deal, a major issue for jews and christians, there seems to be no reason to believe that it is mere coincidence that such an important statement was never reported in the ahadith corpus.

That is it. Thank you for your attention!

    Jazakallah
