    Assalamu Alaikum, is wearing makeup in public allowed? Someone on YouTube says no due to al-sunan al Kubra 12480. JazakAllahu Khairan.

    The word used is Tabarruj:

    The Prophet (SWS) said:

    The worst of your women are the ones who commit tabarruj. They are the hypocrites. None from them will enter paradise.”

    This is condemnation of women who intentionally show off their embellishments/adornments to allure men. This does not apply to normal makeup on the face without any such intention.

    The meaning of Taburruj in the dictionary:

    إِظهارُ الزِّينَةِ وَمَا يُسْتَدْعَى بهِ شَهْوَةُ الرّجالِ (تاج العروس من جواهر القاموس (5/ 417)

    زینت کا اظہار کرنا جس سے مردوں میں شہوت اجاگر کرنا مقصود ہو۔
