Leaving Sunnah

Scholar July 17, 2025 at 11:16 pmAt this occasion the prophet was reminding the people who wanted to adopt celibacy and asceticism that that was not the religious life he has introduced.
Not all the acts performed by the prophet are Sunnah. Sunnah is a religious way of life and act by the prophet like prayer, fast, Hajj etc.

You mention prayer Hajj etc
The Namaz other than the farz obligatory namaz means sunnah prayer for example 2 Sunnah rakat of fajar and
The sunnah acts of Namaz hajj etc like rafa yadain and the like also fits in this
“whoever turns away from my sunnah has nothing to do with me”
Or not?

Scholar July 18, 2025 at 12:06 amThe word Sunnah is used with different connotation. In the saying of the prophet it means the religious way of life as approved by the prophet.
The whole act of prayer, fast and Hajj zakat are called Sunnah because the prophet taught them to his followers.
Then fuqaha uses the word Sunnah to differentiate between Faraz and non Faraz acts, and then some people use it for every big or small act of the prophet. This is not included in the above saying of the prophet. It is about the religious life style approved by the prophet.

And the “sunnah” word mentioned in the saying
“whoever turns away from my sunnah has nothing to do with me”
is indicated towards the obligations of the Islam as how these obligations are actually performed by the prophet PBUH itself as these obligations are also Sunnah beacuse these are performed by Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
AS I EXPLAINED ABOVE
First question..
I GOT THE TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF THE SAYING?
Second question…
Furthermore,in the narration
The Messenger of Allah PBUH said: “Marriage is part of my sunnah, and whoever does not follow my sunnah has nothing to do with me.
So,What about marriage as the narration told us that the marriage is a sunnah.
So, whoever doesn’t marry has nothing to do with Prophet PBUH as mentioned in the narration?

Dr. Irfan Shahzad
Scholar July 18, 2025 at 12:29 amAs far as the above saying of the prophet is concerned it is about the way of life approved by the prophet.
Turn away means adopting the celibacy as something religious the context of the hadith confirms. This was what the holy prophet objected to.
However, if a person doesn’t get married for some other reasons, this is no turning away from the approved way of life. Turning away means when a non religious way of life is adopted as religious.
The acts life Rafa yadain are not Sunnah in this context. Rafa yadain is optional.

Are the acts like drink water in three sips, blow into the vessel, not consuming very hot food etc
Are all these acts are religious Sunnah or religious matters linked to the religious way of life of Prophet PBUH?

Are these also related to sunnah of religious way of life of PROPHET PBUH?
