In the context of IVF with micro-sorting for gender selection, where technology allows for 80-90% accuracy in choosing a baby’s gender, how do Islamic scholars and ethical frameworks determine the legitimacy and permissibility of this method, particularly considering the fundamental Islamic principle of accepting Allah’s decree in creation and the perceived line between beneficial scientific advancement and undue interference in the natural order of life?

If science can help choose a gender, it too is Allah’s decree, without which human beings won’t be able to choose a baby’s gender.

It is only the moral or ethical objection, if there is any, that determines whether a particular act is legitimate or not. If a family needs a boy or a girl, there is no objection. However, if it changes the ratio of males and females in society, then this is objectionable at a larger scale.

How do we apply the idea of preventing the opening of doors of greater chaos? What is the limit? How much time do we have to give to a potential thread to infest before placing it in the harmful bin? How will Saad e zariyaa be decided in these cases?
