Asking for a friend (Real scenario) :
A man, in anger, divorced his wife and then reconciled with her. The second time, again in anger, he divorced her and reconciled. The third time, he divorced her and they separated. After 8 months, they realized they had made a mistake and started living together again in the same house but in separate rooms. They are confused whether they need to perform nikah again, or whether the divorces do not count because they were given in anger, or whether halala would be required.
They both want to live together and they also have a son. The man realizes his mistake and is willing to offer compensation (kaffara) for it.
