The story of Barsisa is mentioned in some tafsir works and is based on Israiliyyat, but we do not find its confirmation in the Qur’an or in any authentic hadith. According to this story, a devout worshipper, while helping a woman, eventually fell into sin. Many clerics present this incident in such a way that it seems as though helping any woman can be a cause of fitnah. This creates the perception that, instead of teaching people to hate sin, it is instilling hatred towards women themselves. Could you please explain the authenticity of this story in terms of its chain of transmission, and also share your view on the social perceptions it produces?

Deen is not understood from stories. We have principles of interaction between men and women enunciated in the Qur’an. See verses 24:30-31.

Any story whether authentic or not authentic conforms to the principle of the interaction will be accepted otherwise not.
