Assalamu Alaikum,In Sunan an nasai 4135, which is a sahih hadith, Hazrat Umar says to Umar bin al walid that his openly allowing musical and wind instruments in islam was an innovation, doesn’t this mean music is not permissible in islam? JazakAllahu Khairan

    Always provide the reference.

No one can make a halal thing haram.

Every haram includes something morally or ethically objectionable. Music itself is a zeenat and not prohibited unless something objectionable associated with it.

But isn’t Umar bin Abdul Aziz an important person in the history of islam as he came after the time of the companions? therefore, shouldn’t we listen to him? JazakAllahu Khairan
