  • Identity Of Abu Lahab As Mentioned In The Quran

In a YouTube video shared (in the link below), Abu Lahab as mentioned in The Quran, which the Mufassireen mention as the uncle of our Prophet Muhammad SAW, is depicted to be actually the Firaun of the time of Musa AS. A number of points from The Quran and Arabic grammar have been mentioned supporting this theory.

My question is that based on our understanding of The Quran whether this is tenable or outrightly rejected. I would like to have a point by point rebuttal of the same.

Thanks for share, its really fascinating.

After watching, i have aome reservations. Perhaps he would have discussed it else where in detail too.

    1) if take pharoah has the subject, then it breaks the pattern of Quranic surahs addressing quresh.

    2) the use of word in surah hud verse 101 is generic not specific to pharoah based on previous verse.

    3) the use of past tense has been used for prediction. For example famous prediction of romans defeating persian in surah room verse 1-3 is in past tense. Moreover many hell and heaven verse are also in past tense. This famous style known as past tense for certainty.

    4) whenever Pharoah is mentioned in Quran, his companion or chiefs or army is mentioned. Hence if it was about him then i would expect word of power or army in the surah.

    5) fire punishment has been promised for others too.

    6) i really dont get his proof about a hero woman.
