Nisab Of Salary From Tax Return
I am not sure how to determine the nisab for my salary. In my federal tax return it says toal tax $0, this is after applying tax credits and deductions. But it also says total taxable income $xxxxx. Does the $0 indicate I am under the government exemption, hence below the nisab? Or should I interpret the numbers as follows: taxable income $xxxxx. Tax paid $0. So must pay 10% zakat on $xxxxx. This is under the assumption that the tax credit that is applied to off set the tax to $0 is considered to be extra income and not accounted towards government exemption bracket (hence, nisab) determination. Hope someone can clarify, JazakAllah khair.
