When did Prophet ﷺ start giving da‘wah openly to everyone?
Did he give da‘wah secretly after the first wahi (revelation) was revealed to him?
Some people give examples related to jihad and occupying other countries, like extremist groups. They say that when Muslims gain power, they should attack non-Muslim countries.
They also argue that the Prophet ﷺ did not give da‘wah openly because he did not have enough followers, and that when more people joined him, he started giving da‘wah openly.
Is this understanding correct?

We do not accept it. There was no time when the prophet secretly preached. He always preached openly. The power he gained in Madina helped him establish his rule in the country God had made exclusive for His worship, and the polytheists had corrupted it.
This pattern of eradicating the polytheists from Hijaz does not apply to other lands. Muslims are not supposed to attack them for being non Muslims.
