He has revealed in this very Book the instruction that wherever you hear that God’s revelations are being rejected and ridiculed, do not sit there with those [who ridicule them] until they get engaged in some other talk, otherwise you too will become like them (Quran 4:140)

3 scenarios and in context of this verse your response:

    1) Sinful matter take place in front of a person A (e.g alcohol is being drunk or dirty/vulgar talk is being talked), he knows it’s a sinful matter & he isn’t involved physically in doin such task himself but neither he moves way nor change the topic. Does ‘you too will become like them’ mean the same sin of one doing these will be on the person A aka he will get punishment identical to the doer of such sin?

    2) A mocking of Islam is taking place or Kufr or shikr is being done in front of Person A, he is neither involved in such act physically nor in his heart adopted such beliefs but he doesn’t move away or attempt to put a stop. Does ‘you too will become like them’ means doesn’t matter if his own beliefs remain such of muslim because of his sitting there, not stoppin it or moving away he’ll label as commiting the same sin of one doing such mocking, kufr and shirk? & will be given the same punishment in the hereafter?

    3) Does sin in this 2 scenario still remain the same on the person A if He is not even physically present as in He sees these happenings taking place through the screen aka watchin TV or similar to that devices but doesn’t skip nor change such videos?

Need scholary answer through Dr.Irfan or/& Ghamidi Sahib understanding of this verse applied preferably with label 1) 2) 3) for each scenario so it’s easy to understand for me.

The verse refers to a situation in which the Deen is being mocked, not to cases such as drinking alcohol or committing shirk. Nevertheless, a believer should avoid gatherings that involve sin or where the Deen is ridiculed. Remaining in such company without a valid reason may suggest a lack of sensitivity toward the sanctity of the Deen or toward sinful behavior, and in that sense, one risks being counted among them.

Similarly, watching a program of this nature without any purpose falls under the same concern. However, viewing such scenes for a legitimate reason may be tolerated, particularly in situations where avoiding or skipping them is not practically possible.

Sorry I’m having difficulty in understanding ur answer. So in context of scenario 2 3, is it a definet that being near such group even if ur heart doesn’t approve and nor are u physically involve in the act but still ‘you too will become like them’ still applies to u aka getting the same sin as the person doin such sin?

Also putting 3rd scenario of watching though screen live or prerecorded was to inquired if person watches a heated debate between a muslim and non muslim and encounters our deen being mock in such debates from one end or news showing non-muslim talking about muslim in bad light, the muslim watcher get angry at that and didn’t approve of their opinion still they didn’t skip it, will this ruling of risk of being judge like them still applies on them?
