Hadith As Source Of Islamic Epistemology
asalaamulaikum. i hope you are well and safe.. i recently read something about a narration which says that hazrat umar r.a and hazrat abu bakr sidiq r.a both banned the qouting of hadiths and the practice was continued up untill umayads..
also hazrat umar abandon a project of collection and forming a book of hadith which seems to be the first project of hadith collection .. as a reason he said that he abandoned it because he feared people will forget quran and instead follow this..
i wanted to ask ghamdi sahab what his thoughts are about this and if this narration is even true? Also there seems to be a sahih hadith in musnad as well as muslim which states that prophet s.a.w said to one of his companions not to write his narrations and instead orally transmit it if need be?
if these narrations are true what effect do they have on islamic epistemologies? how do they effect the work of islamic theological philosophers and thinkers who have premised their work on the written hadiths..
Best Wishes
