Logic Of Salfism
I was recently talking to someone and he asked why haven’t any of the scholars at all in the past come to Ghamidi sahab’s opinion. I know Ghamidi sahab’s opinion are very logical and valid. But a question does arise as to why we don’t find similarities?

The same question can be asked about Imam Ghazali, Maulana Modudi and others, why didn’t anyone before them came to the kind of conclusions that those scholars reached about overall framework and objective of the religion?
The main reason, as I see it, in the past it was too much focus and dependency on fiqh and in recent times, it is this unusual popularity and dependency on ahadith, specially among common people. People have become so sensitive about ahadith, they are not even ready to listen to anything from Quran that goes against Ahadith. The irony is that even Ahnaf scholars who actually don’t hold the same view on ahadith and their status as independent source of religion, express the same ahle-hadith point of view in front of common public fearing retaliation if they express otherwise. It’s been centuries since Quran has had been a focus of our studies.
Ustad said on one occasion that he feels that Farahi school of thought would eventually become the religion of few, while ahle-hadith school of thought would become religion of common Muslims.

the same reasons why people have not came conclusion in many matters and some people do in later and past time. it is related to who is ready to and born to do this job.

It is such a tragedy that people turn to hadith rather than the Qur’an and try to view the Quran in line with the hadith. You are right so many times one is having a discussion and people quote hadiths for their beliefs. Hadith has to be in the footnote of thr Qur’an. Any hadith which has no reference in the Qur’an is not to be accepted. But people get angry if you ask them if what they believe is based on the Qur’an. The answer is ” it is from the hadith”

There is a reason why people believe in hadiths (yes, the single narrator chain ones) even if they are not part of Sunnah (well, many scholars don’t differentiate between Sunnah and authentic hadiths), is that anything Prophet did or said defined his character and Muslims emulate his sayings or actions, and consider him a template for moral character.
For example, according to many hadiths, he married Aisha at a certain age. Now, it doesn’t mean it becomes part of the religion to marry the girls at that age, but when arguing whether it is morally justifiable to marry young girls, people give reference, if the Prophet did it, then how can it be considered immoral or unjustified. Now the hadith can be wrong, but the best tools available to Muslims to verify their authenticity have been employed to prove them reliable.
It is a different matter that these hadiths violate Qur’an verses if you interpret Qur’an with a different view. However, if you understand Qur’an verses from these hadiths, and how Prophet lived his life, then an overall picture of Islam emerges.

No.. but that hadith doesn’t say it. Anyway, please discuss this particular topic of her age in a separate thread.

Why do we accept senseless Hadiths which do not appeal to our Fitra?

If it is proven that Prophet did say it ..
There are some Qur’an verses you accept, so why not hadiths ?

We accept Every word in the Qur’an. Every hadith has to inspected in line with the Qur’an and then accepted or rejected. Some hadith are so senseless like shaking hands with a non mehram is the ladder to Zina! Mutilation of female genitals like done is many African countries. Honour Killing in the name of Islam a all derived from misquoted hadiths.

Hadiths are not necessarily source of the religion, but they overall defined Prophet’s character/behavior/life etc. If some hadiths contradict Qur’an, it doesn’t NECESSARILY mean that hadith is misquoted or wrong.. It just means that either the hadith is wrong or the Prophet did violate the Qur’an in his actions/sayings/behavior etc. Hadiths are accounts of Prophet’s behavior and can’t be rejected just because they violate your image of how the Prophet really lived his life.
Of course, I am talking about those hadiths which are coming from reliable narrators and are considered Sahih .
