I don’t think my previous post a few Mintah ago did my argument justice.
We have lots of evidence that would lead us to think that the Eiffel Tower exists. But all that evidence is naught.
The only thing I know for certain is that I myself exist. All other things have insufficient evidence to prove their existence (even you!).
When we are dreaming we do not know we are dreaming. We wake up and realise it was fake. Why could tinge thing we call existence be a dream- and we are soon to wake up.
We have already produced virtual reality and are able to induce pain in the brain- why couldn’t some higher order of civilisation go a step further and have created us as brains in a vat?

The thing is though- the guy asking the questions- the answer to all of them should’ve been in the positive

I think two fundamental errors are made when debating this issue:
1) Making fun of the matter- which usually results in the discussion ending and no conclusion being made (I’m sorry but I have tried discussing this many times and really want an answer now)
2) Expecting the claimant to have an answer that explains reality otherwise. We have to realise it’s not ‘we are brains in a vat’. It’s ‘we could be brains in a vat’ and ‘we have no way of proving otherwise’

I don’t endorse making of the fun part either, but the point presented by that guy actually sums up pretty well what I’ve been trying to convey.
We could be living in a virtual reality or a mere projection of data stored somewhere on a two-dimensional surface. But at the same time, we need to know our limitations and resources that we’ve at our disposal to reach to the truth to the best of our ability. This doesn’t mean we will reach the absolute truth, but for sure, if we start making progress through a particular course of action or if we see effectiveness of results through that course, then we will surely give preference to that course of action and consider it something closer to reality based on the best of our abilities and resources.
Currently, intuition, experimentation & observation, and by extension logical inferences, established history and their combined effectiveness in producing results for us and continued reliability of those results are the factors which make us decide what is reality for us and what is not, what is a dream for us and what is not. If along the way, we find some other evidence which is more strong than the current one in changing our definition of reality, then surely we will; but right now, arguments on this phase of reality take precedence over any other proposed phase of reality.
