Because one of our scholar declared our Holy Prophet (PBUH) a shaheed which indicates according to him the poison of khyber did make any effect.

Whether it did or it didn’t, what difference does it make? He was a human being and according to God’s law, he had to die. What’s more important is to understand, accept, and practice the message that he brought so that we can save ourselves from the destruction that’s about to take place.

The term ‘Shahdah’ does not refer to just instantly dying one day while fighting enemies of Islam.

It refers to attitude of person who understands the truth of religion and then decides to live the rest of his life bearing witness to that truth in front of everyone no matter the consequences. This is called the life of Shahdah (A person would still be shaheed who dies under normal circumstances but lived his life in accordance with these attributes). And sometimes, during that process of standing-up to people for the sake of truth, there might come a time when a person has to even sacrifice his life (whether in fight or under any oppression); this sacrifice of life is the epitome of Shahdah.

The rank of prophethood is in itself an independent rank given by God and is not dependent on a prophet being classed separately as Shaheedh, Salih or Siddeq, the latter are the ranks which we humans should try to achieve instead of trying to fit a Prophet in any such rank.

[Tell them:] “People who obey God and [His] Messenger shall dwell with prophets, the truthful, the witnesses and the righteous [10] How good are these companions!(Quran 4:69)

(Excerpt from Quranic Exegesis: Javed Ahmed Ghamidi)

    (Translated by Dr. Shehzad Saleem)

[10]. Here the word الصِّدِّيقِينَ refers to people who are truthful in their knowledge and deeds, and at every instance prove this truthfulness through their words and actions and the word الشُّهَدَاء refers to those who bear witness to the truth even if this means endangering their lives.

Regarding the narrations on poisoning, if we look at such narrations in the light of Quran, it was another attempt by Jews to kill The Prophet among many others and Allah saved Him from all such attempts.
