  • Difficulty Waking Up For Fajr

Posted by Zuhair on December 10, 2020 at 1:24 am

I have classes in the morning and I can’t pray Fajr because if I wake up then it becomes difficult to sleep and before classes I feel sleepy. So I usually say it with zuhr(combined). I’ve just changed my habits and now I do is that after waking up and taking my classes the first thing I do is pray Fajr(before zuhr). Is it ok?

I am not a scholar, but to my knowledge, it doesn’t seem right to do this for a long period. Could it be possible to find other solutions, such as, going to bed early. It usually takes 3 weeks to fully change sleeping habits, but see if that suits you.

Just the way you prioritize study and sleep over everything else, it is required of a Muslim to prioritize Salah over everything else. You cannot leave or postpone Salah on purpose just to suit your sleeping habits. However, Salah can be postponed or even reduced when there is a genuine difficulty or hardship that befalls a Muslim.
