Before thinking about how to overcome or refute a philosophical concept, it’s important to understand what that concept really is and where it stems from. Materialism, for example, stems from the ancient existential questions that have intrigued the humanity for a very long time. It attempts to provide answers to those questions based on some ideas. Orthodox materialists believe that the only substance that exists in this universe is matter. They deny the existence of any metaphysical material, for example consciousness, thought, feeling, and even God. Materialism is the very basis of atheism.
On the contrary, idealists provide a completely opposite idea that answers the same existential questions. Orthodox idealists believe that all that exists in this universe is a metaphysical reality. They view everything material as just an illusion. Idealism is the basis of many mystic religions, including tassawuf.
While both materialism and idealism are based on hypothetical ideas, Quran provides us with it’s own ideology and provides undeniable evidence for it.
Ghamidi sahab has explained the ideology of the Quran in a lot of detail in his book Meezan as well as lectures. Those who understand materialism and idealism can benefit from these lectures at a much deeper level and appreciate how the Quran undeniably refutes both idealistic as well as materialistic ideas.

The only way we can get rid of, or at least minimize the effects of materialism or nihilism is to understand what those concepts really are, why they are wrong, and educate people about the alternative view provided by the Quran with undeniable evidence.
