Salat – Rituals Vs Actions
Can we say that rituals are just a means to an end of tazkiyya? EG salah in and in of itself wouldn’t hold any value if God hadn’t ordained it (meaning it comes under obeying him)- but the more important thing is to then ponder on his words in it and be motivated to give charity and do good etc.

There’s no point in such a mental exercise. We have accepted salat as ordained by God, whom we have accepted on the basis of clear evidence. Once we understand who God is, then obedience to Him should come all but naturally. If it doesn’t then we have some fundamental issue in our understanding of the concept of God, and it should be the center of our focus for the moment.
