If one does not speak Arabic what is the purpose of his salah? He doesn’t understand what he’s saying so he cannot ponder. Shouldn’t it be done in his own language?

Except for Quran other Azkaar and supplications can be done in one’s own language.

If the best form of salah is in congregation then most people nowadays do not speak Arabic. So they will simply be standing there- not understanding a single word. What is the point of such a prayer if no contemplation is possible on the Quran. Surely it should be recited in the langauge that most people in the congregation speak. Otherwise it is just a meaningless exercise of just standing there and getting tired

Congregational prayers are not allowed to go long to make people tired.

for a small portion to be recited in prayer from Quran is a sunnah which is not allowed to be altered.

Muslims are supposed to come up to understanding Quran in its own language, however, Muslims may take help from the translations after the Arabic during the prayer if possible for them

So why not just do the salah in English in the first place without the extra steps? Surely salah is the most important time for tadabbur

Could you also elaborate what you mean by small portion? Is surah mulk for example a short portion?

Tadabbur without the original text does not qualify to be a meritorious tadabbur. if recitation in some other language is allowed, we will pave the way to ignore the original text which has no substitute. No translation can be an agreed upon translation, so it will also arise disputes, as we see in scholarly circles.

so it is not recommended to recite Quran during prayer in some other language.
