Member February 1, 2021 at 8:16 amI wondered about the same as in which angle should we select. I was not brought up as following Hanafi or Sha’afi etc so I am very confused. Also there is about 15 min difference in prayer times specifically Fajar. Between ICNA and Islamic University Karachi there is 15 min usually. I just hope Allah accepts whatever the little offerings we do.

Contributor February 24, 2021 at 3:27 amBut there must be one right way. Of course the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم only prayed at one time

Moderator February 24, 2021 at 6:00 amFrom what I understoond reading online, the differences exist due to different interpretation of islamic dawn vs astronomical dawn + sun depression angle.

Moderator February 24, 2021 at 6:12 amAs ghamidi sb said differences in time is not a problem.
As read on interned, north american relegious society is working on determining better calculation method. -

Contributor February 24, 2021 at 6:13 amI don’t get why it’s not a problem. The specific times should have been exactly that- specific. The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم prayed at one time not one time one day and another another day. There should only be one right way. Especially factoring in tawattur

Contributor February 24, 2021 at 7:25 amI don’t think Ghamidi sahab agrees with the asr calculation. This is quite a fundamental issue. If Muslims have been praying five times a day every day for 14 centuries how could there ever be two opinions? Why is there subjectivity in such a fundamental issue?
Again I am just a layman when it comes to spherical mathematics so it really is not my place to judge the above research. Islamic scholars should look at the method and let us laymen know
