Normally mosques are completely empty between prayers. Why we do not use them as community centers to attract youth to get them excited to go to mosques and get a chance to hear Allah’s word and a chance to pray.

Can we put basketball hoop, badminton, small sprts equipment in or around mosques to encourage youth to go to mosques and at the same times provide healthy activities to youth in areas where there is no open spaces or opportunities for youth to involve in healthy activities.

Why do we not do that? Is there any restriction in Islam?

In my opinion there is no restriction about it. Because we know that Masjid Nabwi was used for various purposes in early days of Islam.
This is intresting question why its not encouraged.

We have all these facilities in the Masajid of our area. They even have rental halls to use for parties and weddings etc. some even with cafes and restaurants. Very often they arrange bonfires, matches and different programs for all ages.

MashaAllah. I heard a few mosques are embracing this concept. I see more of a need in Pakistan. I am trying to adopt one mosque there which is open to the idea. Hopefully others will see the benefits and follow. We need to give mosques their right place… to bring people together and an inviting place for all.
